Our random baiters are made in stainless steel. Our design has a double baiter for two tubs to make switching tubs seamless.
The random baiter is located at the stern of the boat with cut bait put in a silo on top. As the line passes through, the hooks catch on the bait with a set of stiff brushes that ensure the bait and the hook line up as the line is shot away.
These random baiters have been shown to work well with a variety of bait types, including squid, herring, mackerel and clam, as well as fresh mackerel.
The line itself does not pass through the bait and only the hooks go through the funnel to catch pieces of bait.
The random baiter has no moving parts and the speed of the boat as the line is shot away pulls the line and hooks through.
These random baiters are very simple to install and use, and have revolutionised longline fishing for small boats in Iceland over the last few years.
